Kinski Palace Restaurant

image

Housed in the cellar of a Baroque palace, on the Old Town Square, this restaurant boasts a wealth of experience. The owner is the president of the Sommelier Association in the Czech Republic and comes with 25 years of restaurant experience. The 12 page wine list, which includes European, South American and Czech wines, lifts this restaurant above its rivals. The main dining room boasts a single barrel-vaulted ceiling which gently embraces the space. The refined, understated furnishings help to create a setting which is calm and intriguing. The Czech/European cuisine is based on many tried and tested recipes from the First (Czechoslovak) Republic. These are served with a twist by the French-trained chef. The dishes arrive as little edible works of art with delightful colors and forms playing across the plate. The menu includes fish, game and poultry dishes which change according to the seasons.

Peklo

peklo

Restaurant "Peklo" (Hell) is located in the area of Strahov monastery, which belongs to order of Premonstratensian. This order was established at 1120 by St. Norbert archbishop of Magdeburg. The establishment of the monastery is dated from 1143, the prince Vladislav II and Olomouc´s bishop Jindrich Zdik took an important part in it.

In the 14th century they started to grow vines around the monastery, which was brought by the king Charles IV from France. In this time we can presuppose the establishment of the wine vault "Peklo". It is possible that even the king Charles IV., had visited "Peklo" several times.

The name "Peklo" is original because the gardens above it are called "In the Paradise" so everything that is located under then has to be the Hell.
